Thursday with a little cleanup on Friday, dressed deals ranged from $360 to
$370, mostly $365, $5 higher than the prior week's weighted averages. Kansas
live business came in here and there, but was very light and was done at
mostly $232, $1 higher than the previous week's weighted average. Private
sources reported a light trade late Friday at $232 to $233, $1 to $2 higher
than last week's weighted averages. According to Thursday's Daily Direct
Slaughter Cattle Negotiated Purchase Summary reports the weekly accumulated
weighted averages were recorded as: KS $230.53 ($231.15); NE
$364.98($360.00); IA $365.02($359.71); TX and CO were not available due to
confidentiality. (the prior week's weighted averages are listed in
parentheses).

The Friday afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle report lists week-to-date
trade volume totals as: KS 736; NE 20,471; IA 16,877; TX and CO NA due to
confidentiality. As you can see, Mandatory trade volume totals were minimal
in the South, it will be interesting to see just how many cattle will be
listed on the weekly summary reports when they are released later this
morning. According to the Daily Livestock and Poultry Slaughter Report,
Friday's slaughter totaled 86,000 head, 30,000 less than the prior week, and
20,000 below the last year. Saturday's kill was estimated at 2,000 head
bringing the weekly total to 553,000, 79,000 more than the previous week, but
down 38,000 from 2025. The weekly average for boxed beef cutouts and boxed
beef cuts: choice $354.33(+5.59), select $351.22(+6.70), with an average
choice/select spread of $3.11(-1.11), and a total load count including cuts,
trimmings, and grinds of 707(+89), (Changes from the prior week are listed in
parentheses).

For the week ending January 03, 2026, Imported Beef Passed for Entry in the
U.S. totaled 36,218, 100.89% of the previous week and 80.71% of the 4-week
average.

DTN MORNING COMMENTS: It will likely be a typically quiet Monday with both
packers and producers busy taking inventory and preparing for the week ahead.
Bids and asking prices have yet to be established, and significant trade
volume will likely be delayed until much later in the week. Beef cutouts are
expected to be mixed with light box movement.
